Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe

Dettifoss.
Waterfall Dettifoss located in the National Park Vatnajokull in northeast Iceland, and is known as the waterfall the most powerful in Europe.


Dettifoss is also the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of discharge volume of water, which has a water flow an average of 193 cubic meters per second. Volume is often increased, especially when the weather or volcanic activity that triggers melting glacial glacier ice Vatnajokull. So strong, it can make a waterfall in the rocks around it vibrate, and the vibrations can be felt even by hand.


 

Dettifoss Jökulsá a river located in Fjöllum, which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier and collects water from a large area in the northeast of Iceland. When autumn arrives, the width of the waterfall is 100 meters high and 45 meters of water dropping into the canyon Jokulsargljufur.


 

If viewed from the west, the scenic waterfall will look completely, and with a short walk, visitors will get to the top of the lava dam and fault line, which is a strategic location to see the waterfall.
