China to Open Consulate-General in Bali



Chinese government intends to open a new consulate general office in the island of Bali. Previously the Bamboo Curtain country already has two other consular offices located in the city of Surabaya and Medan.

This was disclosed by Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Wang Yi, after meeting with Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa today, Thursday, May 2, 2013. Wang Yi intention was conveyed to Marty in the closed-door meeting that lasted nearly two hours.

"The intention was welcomed by Indonesia," Yi said in front of the news reporter.

On that occasion, Yi said that Indonesia is the country's most important partner in Asia. Yi said among other countries that have bilateral relations with China, relations with Indonesia is a relationship that has developed most rapidly.

"This further strengthens the ten-year strategic partnership between China and Indonesia," said Yi.

Yi describes the strategic partnership that has existed between Indonesia and China covering several fields including defense and security, trade, investment, infrastructure, food security and energy, maritime and relationships between people.

Regarding the relationship between citizens, Yi said there are significant developments. One was the growing number of Chinese citizens to visit Indonesia. Data obtained from the Chinese Embassy, there were 618,223 Chinese nationals visited Indonesia last year.

This number has increased when compared to 2011, amounting to 504 749 residents. While Indonesian citizens who visited China in 2010 was 573 400 people, among them there are also 4,380 students / students from various regions who are studying there.
