Google Threatened Blocked in Pakistan


Pakistan government threatened to block Google if it does not immediately delete the video that insulting Islam in one of its units, Youtube. Video sharing website itself has been blocked since last nine months in Pakistan refused to withdraw due to the film.

Reported the Daily Mail, Tuesday, June 11, 2013, Pakistan's Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rahman confirmed that YouTube will remain blocked until the defamation of Islam video titled Innocence of Muslims and pornography is still posted on the site.

Rahman promised to immediately revoke the blocking if Youtube would remove it. "We are ready to spend additional funds when needed and do whatever we can to make Youtube accessible again. Yet all it should be in accordance with the ethical values ​​that were held by the Pakistanis," said Rahman.

Rahman said it will continue to negotiate with Google on this issue. Blocking of Google is the last alternative if an agreement is not reached between the two.

"It all depends on our negotiating power. If they still insist with their attitude, then we will block Google in Pakistan as the last step," he said.

He admitted that he was not afraid to block Google, because there are many other search sites. But Rahman said he would not rush to remove the blocking of Youtube.

The emergence of the film Innocence of Muslim controversy and massive protests in 2012 yesterday. The demonstration ended in dispute in 20 countries and killed 50 people in September last year.

Youtube blocked participate in several countries including Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Youtube finally shut off access to the film for a few countries for violating the law. Among these are Egypt, Libya and Indonesia.
