Tennologi National Nuclear Agency (BATAN) re-introduced the application of nuclear technology for health. This year the Institute for Research and Development BATAN introduce a new tool for the early detection of cervical cancer (cervical).
This tool is introduced in Yogyakarta in activities focus group discussion (FGD) with the health workers, Friday (26/4). This tool uses socialized to the hospital, the doctor ties Indonesia (IDI) and the suppliers of medical equipment. Present at the occasion were 8 hospitals of Sulawesi, Java and Yogyakarta.
Head of Nuclear Technology Cooperation BATAN, Ferly Hermana said, early detection tool cervical cancer virus was recently assembled by the Research BATAN 2012. "We are still socialized to see the response of hospitals and health especially health personnel as users," he said.
Admittedly, this step is done to promote medical devices that use nuclear technology. Not many hospitals are implementing medical devices with nuclear technology from BATAN.
According to him, many hospitals that choose to adopt foreign-made equipment is much more expensive though. Though BATAN himself he said, already has the work in the form of medical equipment that uses nuclear technology.
A similar sentiment was expressed by Head BATAN, Djarot S Wisnubroto. According BATAN being intensively disseminating research findings that health agencies in Indonesia utilizing the domestic products.
Admittedly, this new tool can detect BATAN owned since the early presence of human viruses pappiloma virus (HPV). Performance of this instrument is done through blood sampling.
"If it was just a pap smear detection surface can be known only if the presence of the HPV virus or not," he said.
According to him, this tool can be used even in women who have not married. Admittedly the new one hospital to adopt the BATAN research. But it has not done an evaluation related to it.
