A team of the
police anti terror squad known as Densus 88, killed two suspected
terrorists in a shootout and caught two others in Tulungagung, East
Java.
"Dayah alias Kim and Rizal, who had been in a police list of wanted men, were killed in the shootout. The two others (identified later as Mugi Hartanto and Sapari) were caught alive," police chief spokesman Insp. Gen. Ronny F. Sompie here on Monday.
The four were waiting for a bus at 0.8.45 local time at Jalan Pahlawan, Kedungwaru, in the regency of Tulung Agung when Densus 88, which had followed them since Saturday, came to arrest them.
A shootout took place when one of the four, Dayah, drew a firearm.
The bodies of Dayah and Rizal had been sent to a police hospital, RS Bhayangkara in Kediri, East Java, and Mugi and Sapari were facing interrogation.
The four were believed to be part of the Poso terrorist group.
The anti terror squad also seized a revolver and a bag containing a locally made bomb, Ronny said.
He denied linking the four with four convicted terrorists who recently escaped from the Tanjung Gusta prison in Medan.
The four joining in the big escape included Fadli who has many aliases and convicted for 11-years. He was a leader of Indonesian Mujahidin in Medan arrested in Malaysia three years ago .
The three others are Agus Sunyoto who was serving a six years prison term , Nibras alias Arab also serving a six years jail term, and Abdul Gani Siregar , who was convicted for 10 years.
