Indonesia-China to launch economic zones


Indonesia and China will launch economic zones called China-Indonesia Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone or CIETCZ. The economic zone will be launched n Juni 2013.

"Economic cooperation between both countries continue to increase and we will strengthen our cooperation," Secretary of Communist Party of Guangxi Province, Peng Qinghua said when receiving Indonesian Ambassador to China and Monoglia, Imron Cotan who visited Guangxi, May 18 to 20. Qinghua added that he would visit Indonesia soon to explore investment opportunities.

In Bekasi, Jawa Barat, both countries will build an economic zone on area of 500 hectares (ha) and 120 ha of them will be built as an industrial area. While in Guangxi, China, the industrial location ia located in southern part of China in Fangchenggang city. Last year, 90 percent of their imports from ASEAN were from Indonesia and 90 percent of coal in used their power plant in the city was imported from Indonesia.

Cotan added bilateral trade between Indonesia and China was very close based on volume of trade, investment, and tourism from 2010 to 2012. "When the project provided comparative advantage, many Indonesian and Chinese enterpreneurs would interest to invest in both industrial areas," he said.
