Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas today Rida Rami Hamdallah appoint as prime minister of Palestine. He replaces Salam Fayyad retreat last April and officially left office this month.
Hamdallah is a professor of English linguistics graduate. He has been the president of An-Najah National University, the largest university in the West Bank, since 1998.
"President Abbas has appointed Rami Hamdallah form a new cabinet," said a Palestinian official told Reuters news agency as reported by the newspaper The Globe and Mail, Monday (3/6).
Hamas condemned the move as violating the agreement reached in the capital Cairo last month. Hamas and Fatah have agreed to form a unity government within three months. "Appointment Hamdallah illegitimate," said Hamas spokesperson Fauzi Barhum.
Hamdallah promised to immediately realize the independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as the capital, WAFA news agency reported. Under the law, he had made up to six weeks to form a government.
