Intel Reveals New Fourth Generation Processors

King of the semiconductor world, Intel, announced the newest technology in the form of a low-power chip and exhibit convergence ultrathin laptops and tablets at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2013 in Las Vegas, U.S.. This attempt to prove that the PC industry still has a bright future.

On the mat CES 2013, January 7, 2013 local time, Intel said the new processors will be more energy efficient to use on tablets and laptops. With a battery that can last a long time this will further increase the PC market in the future.

According to Kirk Skaugen, vice president and general manager of Intel's PC Client Group, the current battery has a great influence in the day-to-day activities.

"Every day you do not need to carry a battery of bricks. Processor we can save your laptop battery," Skaugen said as quoted by Reuters, January 8, 2013.

During these macroeconomic problems in the world has been hit sales of Intel's products for several quarters. The sales decline is due to the growing popularity of tablets and smartphones, which is seen as a threat to the PC industry.

Anxiety about the life of the PC market continues to decline, making Intel should think hard in an attempt to raise again the PC market in the world. At CES 2013, Intel showed off a variety of ultrathin laptops, dubbed Ultrabook and hybrid devices that can turn a laptop into a tablet.

"Right now we're assault by dozens of laptops that can be turned into a tablet, the screen can be rotated and removed. Order the electricity saving products, so we created a new Ivy Bridge chips only 7 watts of electrical power, said Skaugen.

Quoted from Techradar, Skaugen also said that this processor is the fourth generation of the Intel Core Processor Family, code-named North Cape. This processor is predicted to make ultrabook laptop battery can last for 9 hours.

Smartphone Chip
In addition to the laptop market, the company based in Santa Clara, California, is also the processor market for smartphones and tablets.

Mike Bell, Head of Mobile and Wireless Business Intel, said the new processor has a code name Lexington, targeted for low cost smartphone market in the Latin America and Asia.

"The processor was designed for multimedia smartphone. Acer, Safaricom, and Lava, have agreed to use this new chip for its future mobile phones," said Bell.

Intel continues to struggle in the smartphone chip technology market that has been dominated ARM Holdings. Inter also has released a chip that can be used on a 4G network, is to keep from being eliminated in the U.S. smartphone market.
