Asleep, Employee Transfer Bank One Million Euros


German court decided the bank supervisor should not be fired for his mistake when financial transactions are asleep. Bank officials should transfer the 64.20 euro, but because he was asleep so fingers pressing numbers 222,222,222.22 euros.

The BBC reported that his boss was fired for allegedly failing to check the transaction. However, the judge in the state of Hesse said he should only be reprimanded.

The incident occurred in April last year when a bank employee was tired and fell asleep in front of a computer with two fingers pressing the number keys. Supervisor who worked since 1986 told the court that he did not notice the error and approved the transaction. Other colleagues saw the error and correct it later.

Bank accused the supervisor does not verify the work of his subordinates. However, the court heard erroneous transactions. He has examined 812 documents.

The judge ruled that there was no malicious intent on the transaction. Therefore, supervisors should only get a warning. The judge ordered the bank to re-sign supervisor.
