Biological researchers from China found for male fertility control techniques. They use gold and laser to kill sperm cells.
Contraceptive technique is done by injecting a nanometer-scale gold particles into the penis. They mix it with the rod-shaped particles of materials methoxy poly (ethylene glycol).
Material that has entered the body is then heated using an infrared laser. Irradiation is done to warm gold particles. Heat absorbed gold will kill sperm cells. while in charge of producing sperm cells live.
This technique has been successfully applied in mice. After radiation therapy for 7 days, fertility dropped to 10 percent. Quality of sperm recovered to 50 percent of normal on day 60.
"This technique could potentially be applied as a male contraceptive," said study leader, Wen-qing Li of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, School of Life Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China in scientific papers.
During this time he did not have much choice in controlling fertility. Condoms are the only contraceptive that can be used to prevent the meeting of sperm and egg cells. Another option is vasectomy technique that causes permanent infertility.
In recent decades, researchers are looking for semi-permanent contraception. Women can take special pills to knock an egg. The same pill for men have not been found.
Li findings give new hope to the ideals of health researchers to create a reliable contraceptives do not cause permanent damage to the sperm cells and male reproductive organs. The research was published in the journal American Chemical Society last May.
