India Missile Test Fails Subsonic


Subsonic missiles domestically India "Nirbhay" in test-fired on Tuesday failed to reach the target and must be stopped in the middle of the road because it deviated from its flight path. But the Defence Research and Development Organization of India (DRDO) said Nirbhay missile was successfully meet mission objectives and do some basic maneuvers satisfactorily before stopped in the middle of his journey.

"Nirbhay successfully launched today at 11:50 from Chandipur launch complex, Odisha and has met the basic mission objectives. When the missile reached the half-way, look no deviation from the path. Finally, missile flight halted to ensure safety of the beach," said a spokesman DRDO Ravi Gupta in a release on Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

Subsonic cruise missile, surface-to-surface Nirbhay has the ability to be launched from land, sea, and air, DRDO scientist said, adding that Nirbhay has a good loitering capability, control and guidance (guidance) a good, high level of accuracy in terms of impact and difficult to detect radar.

Nirbhay missile was developed by the Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) and the DRDO laboratory based in Bangalore, India. This missile has a range of about 1,500 kilometers.
