Thank Ship Fregat Philippines Second in 2013


The second frigate Navy Philippines (Philippine Navy / PN), BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PF-16), scheduled to arrive in August, not in April as previously stated. This five-month delay associated with the need for more intensive training crew (AL Philippines) before the ship can be taken from North Charleston, South Carolina naval facility, United States.

BRP Ramon Alcaraz equipped with weapons and sensors are more sophisticated than its twin BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (PF-15). The frigates are also equipped with automatic cannons Mark 38 Model 2 Bushmaster and a new main engine, making it more superior than his sister. Approximately 5 million dollars have been spent by the Philippine Navy for its upgrade fee. Former U.S. Navy frigate that was previously named USS Dallas is a high durability cutter ship that was commissioned in 1967 from Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans. This ship is the sixth ship to be named from Alexander J. Dallas, a finance minister under President James Madison (1814-1816).

This ship is one of twelve Hamilton class cutter ships are built for the U.S. Coast Guard (Coast Guard). Weighing 3,250 tons, has a length of 115 meters, width 13 meters, draft of 4.6 meters * (standard charge). The propulsion system consists of two diesel engines and two gas turbine engines, giving it a cruising speed of up to 29 knots. This vessel has a cruising range in the range of 14,000 miles and the time at sea for 45 days in the voyage. The ship is operated by a crew of 167. 

 
Frigate was originally equipped with air-search radar AN/SPS-40, Weapons Control System Mark 92 and armed with a gun Oto Melara Mark-75 76-mm, two machine gun system Mark K-38 25mm, two Mark 36 SRBOC System , one Phalanx CIWS missile defense gun, .50 caliber M2HB machine gun and M240 7.62mm machine guns. After being acquired by the Philippine everything removed except the cannon Oto Melara Mark-75 76-mm. (FS)
