Strength of China's nuclear missile submarines took a few years longer

It seems China is only two years away from being able to activate a nuclear missile launched from submarines effectively - a movement which, if achieved, will transform the country's strategic relationship with the United States, warned the commission that was appointed by the U.S. Congress, in a report published on November.

China now is at "peak acquiring nuclear triad is a reliable intercontinental ballistic missile land based, ballistic missiles launched from submarines [SLBM], and air nuclear bomb," according to a 2012 report to Congress of the Economic and Security Review Commission US-China which consists of 12 people.

The report stated that this development "will have an impact on the perception of India and Russia in terms of potential ability to prevent them when dealing with China."

China has operated a nuclear submarine with nuclear missile capability for more than 30 years. But the numbers were always small. Training, technical and tactical reliability, and experience in marine mission in their long-term, negligible compared to the strategic submarines of the U.S. Navy and Russian [Soviet first].

Even now, China's industrial production vessels are growing rapidly, is still very dependent on the purchase of diesel submarines from the Russians and Chinese versions of many Russian weapons systems, which is engineered and forth.

But the report states that the People's Liberation Army Navy [PLAN] has been very close to creating and maintaining a "strategic defense almost continuous sea" in the sea.

Finally, several Chinese submarines can be equipped with up to 12 ballistic missiles which can be launched at sea, and this in turn can also carry multiple warheads at different targets [MIRV], the report said.

Increased Chinese submarine
Naval analyst Li Jie told the official People's Daily newspaper in Beijing on December 17 report, that China independently are designing and producing advanced submarines. He said that the submarine had recently been and will show the performance that can be compared to that of the United States, Russia, Germany, and Japan, although he admits that what he described as a "small gap" still exists, especially in the manufacture of power plant and noise emissions.

China's expertise in designing and building diesel-powered submarines have very good self-owned. Li Jie admitted this, and said that the country's shipyards steadily increasing submarine construction capability.

"Through the grace and intelligence of the people of China policy, the country has made great progress in terms of the design of the submarine. Submarines independently designed by China does not have a problem, except for a small gap in terms of noise, application materials, and power supply, "he said.

He said that the Chinese submarine has a performance very close to the ability of U.S. nuclear submarines and Russia, also equivalent to diesel-powered submarines manufactured by Japan and Germany, in terms of performance indicators.

"China especially has had the effect of progress in silent, untracked properties, application materials, firing in the air force, and we have also developed long-range missiles, short-range, anti-ship and ballistic. In addition, we have also been trying to improve submarine AIP [air independent propulsion], and has achieved great progress, "he continued.

Activation will change the balance of regional power
Professor Carl Thayer, Southeast Asia analyst at the Australian Defence Force Academy at the University of New South Wales, told the Sydney Morning Herald in a report published on November 19, "Activation of nuclear submarines [it], including ballistic missile submarines, will introduce new geostrategic dimension in the regional balance of power. "

When China finally able to activate more than one submarine armed with SLBMs, strategic position of the country is the whole world and especially the United States, will be changed. For the first time, Beijing can look forward to the prospect to be close in terms of strategic equality with the United States.

Chinese President Hu Jintao, who will step down next spring, has made it clear that he sees improvement PLAN ships and weapons systems to be world class, as a national priority.

"Building a national defense and strong armed forces, which is commensurate with China's international position and meet the need for security and development interests, is a strategic task of China's modernization spirit," he said in a speech in November, the 18th Party Congress. "We have made great progress in the modernization of national defense and the armed forces."

Reports Economic and Security Review Commission US-China also recommends that the U.S. government and Congress to consider to draw China into a restriction agreement and major arms control, which has been negotiated bilaterally with Russia, including the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty signed in April 2010, and the Intermediate Range Nuclear Power Treaty in 1987.

The report also recommends the U.S. Congress to treat any unilateral withdrawal of U.S. nuclear forces carefully, before obtaining factual information about the growth and the launch of China's strategic nuclear.
