The United Nations Correspondent Association (UNCA) on Monday hosted Le Club des Chefs des Chefs (CCC), an organization composed of 25 heads of state chefs from around the world.

"My aim when I created this group was to pay tribute to the chefs. They have a role to play in gastronomical politics," Gilles Bragard, the executive secretary and founder of CCC said in his opening remarks to the press here.

The club was founded in 1977 and in relation to the global chef`s first meeting in France, Bragard said, "they were all so happy to be together and it was nice to join together and speak about our troubles, which are very peculiar."

"So after this first meeting we decided to start a non- profit organization called Le Club des Chefs des Chefs, which is the most exclusive gastronomical club in the world," he said.

"Where the chef cooks for a president, a king or a queen," and pride themselves on discretion, community building and understanding their role, he said.

Among the chefs present at the press conference here were top cooks from Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Gabon, Germany, India, Italy, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Thailand.

"It is the first time that the Palestinian and Israelis chefs to put on the same white jackets, a symbol for peace," he said.

When asked by press here on their role and the selection process, White House executive chef, Cristeta Comerford, said, " the integrity and character that comes with the talent of cooking and the way we execute all of the meals of the family and the people they serve."

While, Mark Flanagan, the CCC`s vice president and chef to her Majesty the Queen of Great Britain said, "I think we all have individual styles in relationships and first and foremost you must have the passion for cooking and discretion which is something practiced by every one of the chefs here."

The chefs unanimously agree that it is important to use local vendors and focus on creating healthy meals.

The global chef club includes members from four continents such as, CCC President, Christian Garcia the chef of His Highness the Prince Albert II of Monaco and Men Jianzhong and Liu Qiang, who are chefs of the "Great Hall of the People" in Beijing, China.

On Monday afternoon, the 20 members present for this trip, will be meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon and will travel to the White House next week.

This is the first group trip to the United States since 2003 and the 20 members present are hosted by Cristeta Comerford.
