Libyan Deputy Prime Minister Resigns

Libya's Deputy Prime Minister Awad al-Barassi is seen at a news conference announcing his resignation in Benghazi, August 3, 2013.
Libya's deputy prime minister has resigned, citing failed government policies and the deterioration of security following a string of political assassinations.
Awad al-Barassi announced his resignation Saturday at a news conference in the restive eastern city of Benghazi, amid growing public anger over widespread violence.

Since the ouster of Colonel Moammar Gadhafi, Libyan authorities have struggled to reestablish order including forming an army and a professional police force.
