National Aeronautics and Space
Institute (LAPAN) develop new aircraft: Lapan Surveillance Aircraft (LSA). This
aircraft will be used to capture a relatively large area of Indonesia.
The birth of the observation
plane at a time to prove mastery of aircraft technology in Indonesia. This
is confirmed in the Space agency Space agency signing cooperation with the
Director General of Civil Aviation Ministry of Transportation, Monday, April
22, 2013.
"We're still a lack of
satellite data acquisition. LSA is a function of verification and validation of
satellite data. Satellites need random field data," said Rika Andiarti,
Chief Technology Flight Center Space agency in his office, Rawamangun, Jakarta.
In addition to complement
satellite data, Rika added, LSA's mission is to monitor agricultural data,
mapping of flood areas, detect fires, evacuation support, urban planning to
monitoring the forest cluster.
"The aircraft is to
complete LSU (LAPAN Surveillance UAV) or unmanned aircraft observer. When
floods hit Jakarta some time ago, LSU was used. Also after Mount Merapi
erupted," he said.
LSA aircraft with two crew
members has an advantage in collecting the data than satellite imagery. Data
is presented in a fast and high-resolution imagery.
"The issue of temporal
resolution, LSA is more flexible. Whenever needed, can. Satellite Then,
temporal resolution it took 16 days," he said.
LSA performance
About the performance, LSA has
the power to fly 8-24 hours with a maximum height of 7.5 km. The
resulting resolution reaches 50 cm with payload (payload) to 70 kg. "In the
future we seek LSA unmanned," said Rika.
LSA is targeted to be fully
operational by 2015. Later
this year, around November-December, targeting first flight Space agency
official.
To pioneer the official flight,
Space agency took DGCA MoT. LSA
will be tested at the Great Hall of the Calibration Facility Flights to then
get certified to fly in the air-worthy Indonesia.
Cooperation with the Ministry
of Transportation includes the provision of aircraft hangars, flight test
facilities, maintenance, and operation of aircraft.
