Indonesian People Like "Sharing" Online Shopping


In an E-Commerce Index survey conducted Rakuten, Indonesia dominate in terms of online shopping behavior that utilize recommendation in social networks.

Rakuten global survey conducted it says, e-commerce users in Indonesia reached 78 percent who do product recommendations through the media and social networking.

That figure is the highest percentage in the survey. Compare with Malaysia (67%), Thailand (65%) or the United States (39%).

The average value of expenditure per person for 2012 - of all countries surveyed - Rp 7 million-an (USD 7.032 million). However, there is a considerable gulf between countries.

For example, the UK has mentioned the average shopping online nearly USD 16.5 million (USD 16.49 million), while Indonesia only Rp 2.3 million (USD 2.318 million).

Ryota Inaba, President and CEO of Rakuten Shopping Online, said that there was growth up to 2.5-fold for shopping via social networking.

Inaba also cites the results of research on trends research institute Gartner labeled "social shopping" this. "Approximately 50% of new consumer information will be obtained based on the identity of social networking, such as 'login with Facebook' at the end of 2015," he said.

According to him, Rakuten also tried that consumers can more easily share content in product recommendations through various social media.

Still Likes to Shop
Other data revealed in the survey, 14 percent of consumers in Indonesia conducting online shopping through smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

However, there are about 28 per cent of Indonesian consumer e-commerce shop that still survive in the conventional alias to go to the store.

Compare that figure with the UK (12%), United States (10%) and Spain (9%) that online shopping enthusiasts - among users of e-commerce - are depleting.

But, see also Austria (46%) and Germany (46%) which was still sticking with the tradition of conventional shopping.

Inaba said anything the way consumers shop, the most important thing is it should be a pleasant shopping experience.

If associated with online shopping, online stores Inaba advised that not merely think of only one way consumers will visit.

"It was not his time anymore to have a website that just display your merchandise, but must ensure that they offer all the information needed by shoppers: via website or quotes via mobile," he said.
