Five Years After, RI Independent Satellite

After developing the entire A2 satellite stages conducted in the country, the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) preparing satellite development A3 and A4 satellite. Space agency effort is another step in realizing the construction of an independent satellite.

Space agency chairman Satellite Center, Suhermanto, said satellites further progress of the A2 is A1 satellite-Tubsat. Previously, A1-Tubsat satellite is developed through stages of knowledge transfer from abroad.

"Tubsat all done abroad (Berlin), and we follow their concept. Well, now we bring entirely A2 in the country. Testing, design, operation, carried out in the country," said on the sidelines of exposure Suhermanto A2 satellite in Satellite Center Space agency, Bogor, Friday, August 31, 2012.

A3 satellite which will be launched in 2014 following the planned use of satellite support software performed in the country. To fulfill that ambition, the current Space agency already started to gather components and supporting materials satellite manufacturing A3 and A4.

Suhermanto say, satellite components A2 almost entirely from abroad.

Meanwhile, Head of Technology Satellite Bus, Robert Haru Triharjanto, say, A3 will come with a satellite payload Earth observation camera with 4 band multispectral scanning camera which is used to map the land cover classification and environmental monitoring.

The camera resolution of 18 m with a coverage of 120 km and a camera resolution of 6 m with a coverage of 12 km x 12 km. This satellite will also orbit 650 km.

"So, can identify the type and age of the plant were censored," he said. Same as A2, A3 Satellites dimension 50x50x70 cm will use sensors AIS and APRS.

If successfully launched satellites A3 Space agency, the agency to immediately resume construction of a dedicated satellite for operational satellites in 2017 to bring the A4.

This satellite is called will be applied specifically to forestry and fisheries. Specifically for the development of operational satellites, Space agency will hold parties signaled abroad.

"We're working together to explore Hokkaido University, Japan," said Suhermanto.

He added that, with the successful launch of satellites A2, Space agency already preparing for the acquisition and development phase of the satellite. Satellite A2 and A3 respectively beoperasi predicted for three years.
