In ancient Javanese cultural treasures, there are at least four teaching leadership philosophy. The fourth tenet is; Science Hasta Brata, Wulang Reh, Tripama, and Dasa Raja Dharma. In-depth review of the fourth gospel can be read, among others, in a book written by Pardi Suratno titled "The Leader". Of
the fourth gospel, Hasta Brata is a (relatively) the most complete and
is ideal so interesting to study approaches the present context
(contemporary).
Science teaching Hasta Brata considered very old, was introduced through puppet play Makutharama Revelation. Wayan Susetya in his book "Leadership Java" Hasta Brata depicts the greatness of science is such that two Bathara incarnation of Vishnu; Sri Rama Wijaya (King of Ayodya) and Bathara Sri Krishna (King Dwarawati) be a great king. Properties of the Earth; was providing a place to live for humans, animals and plants. In the present context, the nature of the Earth can be translated into a nature that likes to give attention to the poor, and the weak. A leader who controlled nature of the Earth will direct his power for the welfare of people and alleviate poverty.
The nature of the Sun; was a source of energy that gives power to sustain life. The sun gives strength to the living things on earth. In the present context, a leader who controlled nature of the Sun can provide inspiration and encouragement to people to resolve any problems faced. Leaders who control the nature of the Sun is the one who is ready to defend its people are oppressed. The nature of the leader as illustrated in the story of the Caliph Umar bin Khatab "angry" when finding a resident whose land would be evicted Egyptian governor arbitrarily. Instantly Caliph Umar sends his sword carved piece of bone as a warning that the Governor of Egypt not to arbitrarily against its people.
The nature of the Moon, is a source of light when night falls. Thus, the Moon is essentially the living lights out of the darkness of the earth. In the present context, a leader who controlled nature of the Moon is that it is capable of guiding and enlightening the people. Therefore such leaders understand and practice the sublime teachings contained in the religion (religiosity) and uphold morality.
Applied nature of this month by the kings of Mataram, one mark is given the status / position of the lane as Senopati Ing Ngalogo Ngabdurohman Sayidi Panoto Kalifatullah Gomo. In the conception of Java, a leader is also functions as a cleric.
Ocean properties; was spacious and airy as a symbol of tolerance and breadth of the liver. In the present context of a leader who controlled nature of the ocean will be able to accept criticism gracefully, even if it's ready to be given advice by his subordinates. He will not see who was speaking, but what was said. He will provide the time and are always open to accommodate the grievances of its people.

Fire properties; was burning everything, indiscriminately. Iron can even melt with fire. In the realm of philosophy Java, Fire interpreted positively as a symbol of the nature of the firm and straightforward. In the present context, a leader who mastered fire nature is he whose deft and thorough in solving problems. Also always consistent and objective in enforcing the rules, and indiscriminate firm objective and impartial.
Illustratively, the leader who controlled nature of fire is depicted in the story of a king who vehemently condemn pry one eye to his own son, but after that he gave his one eye to replace his son who was at the lever.
Thus, a leader who mastered the nature of fire, he was able to distinguish between law enforcement and affection towards the family.

Though quite old, Hasta Brata science is one of the many teachings of the leadership of Java. The next generation also teaches leadership philosophy as a further translation of Sciences Hasta Brata this, suppose Manunggaling science that teaches how Gusti servant leadership philosophy that blends with the people but close to God. Manunggaling Gusti servant doctrine is trying to take the Gospel into the very essence Hasta Brata teaching leadership philosophy.
In addition, there is a generation of leadership philosophy is relatively new Java, namely its Leadership Trilogy Ki Hajar Dewantara; Ngarso Sungtulodo Ing, Ing Madyo Mangunkarso and Tut Wuri Handy. However, (almost) all the teachings of the Java philosophy of leadership comes from Science Hasta Brata. Because teaching Hasta Brata is (to say) a vision of leadership in the relatively most ideal conception of leadership philosophy teaching Java. So ideally so as if there could be no leader can master the nature of the eighth. Hence then the philosopher tries to derive a philosophy of teaching generations of leadership that is more specific.
Like most philosophies, teachings Hasta Brata kebathinan which should be the foundation to motivate us, especially for those who believe in the teachings of the leadership philosophy of Java and want to be a successful leader fighting for the truth for falsehood. Is not that the Prophet Muhammad said: "Every time you are a leader and will be held accountable for his leadership".
