70,000 3 PC Malware attack in Indonesia


Indonesian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-ID) found 3 types of malware embedded in network protocols and the Internet have attacked 70,000 PCs across Indonesia.

Malware of this type of drone, sality2, and Conficker.C potentially perform a DDoS attack (Distributed Denial of Service) and other activities, including cyber crime.

Until June 12, 2013, the malware has struck 196 companies (ISP and non-ISP), 27 academic institutions / universities, 13 government agencies, and 3 Internet eXchange (2 belongs to the government-owned and community-owned 1)

"The attacks are very fast, in less than 24 hours were increased 2-fold from 30 535 at the June 11 to 71,000 on June 12. Threat of long-range attacks, because if growers enable bots / zombies, it will be easy to launch a cyber attack," said Alkazimy Ahmad, Manager ID-CERT to merdeka.com, Thursday (13/6).

According Alkazimy, it realized a series of sustained attacks that could interfere or attempt to interfere with a number of other computer networks.

Through intense collaboration with private sector partners and law enforcement, ID-CERT has distributed a list of indicators of a number of events. Indicators contained in this publication is given as is situationally to assist in the defense of a network or to investigate watchlist IP attacker during the attack.

ID-CERT provides instructions precaution to encounter malware, namely by updating antivirus and system health checks on a regular basis, and an update to the OS and application patches are used.
