Baby Milk Bottle Caused Pros Cons in Venezuela

Venezuela is considering passing laws that prohibit the use of baby bottles. This was done to support breastfeeding (breast milk) for infants and reduce the use of infant formula.

Quoted from page Telegraph, recently, Venezuelan Congress will begin to talk about these issues in Congress next week. One of the supporters of the rule, Odalis Monzon, said the so-called powerful way to improve children's health.

"We want to increase the love between mother and child as long as it faded due to the sale of infant formula by various transnational corporations," Monzon said of the ruling party, the Socialist.

He said legislation to promote and support breastfeeding has actually been around since 2007. However, this rule does not mention sanctions for mothers who use formula milk. However, Monzon was reluctant to reveal what sanctions will be proposed if the bill passed Congress.

Although breastfeeding is required in the law, but Congress still make exceptions for some particular cases. For example if the baby's mother has died or when women have limited milk production. "Exceptions should be in accordance with the conditions set by the Ministry of Health," Monzon said.

However, the passage plan faced considerable opposition from the opposition. They said the government had started too far to interfere in citizens' private lives.

"People are free to eat or drink for their children in accordance with the portions. Daughter I've stopped breastfeeding after seven months. Then what should I do? Forcing?" said a mother named Ingrid Rivero who questioned the government's plans.

While President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, tend to support the implementation of this Act. It happened because since the beginning Maduro has vowed to continue the leadership style of former President Chavez who died from cancer.
