An F-15 fighter plane United States fell into the sea after the pilot out of the plane off the coast of Japan's Okinawa prefecture on Tuesday morning, the U.S. Air Force confirmed.
"F-15 fighter aircraft from Kadena air base having a problem that eventually led to the pilot out of the plane over the Pacific Ocean about 70 miles (110 kilometers) east of Okinawa," said U.S. Air Force, referring to reports of U.S. forces in the Pacific.
Lieutenant Colonel David Honchul, spokesman for U.S. forces in Japan, said the pilot was successfully rescued by U.S. forces after a search and rescue crew Japan. After the pilot out of the aircraft with ejector seats, pilot remains in contact with rescue teams and helicopters rescued by the Japanese Air Force.
Causes of the F-15 is still under investigation and the name of the fallen pilot is still a secret. The U.S. military says the pilot is in stable condition and is being evaluated at a military hospital in Okinawa. The crash was the first for the F-15 aircraft based at Kadena since January 2006.
Okinawa is home to 47,000 U.S. personnel in Japan and Kadena Air Base is the largest U.S. air base in the Asia-Pacific region.
