Iran Successfully Create 3 New Drug


Minister of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran, Kamran Daneshjou, announced it has created three new drugs produced by Iranian scientists at the University of Razi, Kermanshah Province West. Three drug called Minoxidil, Monte Lucas, and Sodium Thiopental, as reported by Iran Culture Radio, June 12, 2013.

The function of each drug to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), chronic asthma, and anesthetic drugs (anesthesia) in convulsions. Currently, the drugs were reported to have been imported into other countries.

In recent years, Iran has experienced significant advances in science and technology, particularly in the fields of medicine and drugs. Last April, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country had launched five new radiomedicines drugs.

Radiomedicines developed and manufactured by experts at the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) in cooperation with the office of the president for science and technology.

"Five radiomedicines drugs have played a central role in diagnosing and treating refractory disease, particularly in cancer," said Nasrin Soltankhah, Iranian Vice President of Science and Technology Division.

While the head of AEOI, Fereidoun Abbasi, announced that Iran has created eight new radiomedicines used to diagnose, prevent, and treat a number of diseases.

"Those drugs are still in the stage of clinical verification to obtain licenses from the Ministry of Health before being released to the market," said Abbasi.
