Year, Mars Asteroid Hit 200 Times

Mars is now increasingly popular as an alternative colony of human life in the future. There's even a Dutch private space company, Mars One, who has designed a program excursion to the red planet.

The program was flooded enthusiasts, carrying 80 thousand enthusiasts from various countries have volunteered to participate in the mission of the Mars One.
Beyond the potential of Mars, the latest research shows Mars also holds the potential of another, asteroid impacts. Page NBCnews, May 25, 2013 launch, on average each year Mars was attacked 200 asteroids.
Although leading to Mars asteroid measuring only 1-2 meters or ten times smaller than the meteor that fell in Chelyabinsk, Russia, but it can be risky for humans living on Mars. Because the Martian atmosphere is thinner than Earth's atmosphere.

Researchers showed in the asteroid hit Mars also has 3.9 meter wide crater holes.
Active PlanetEstimated 200 asteroid impacts was based on the identification of 248 new Mars crater in the last decade by a NASA spacecraft orbiting the planet since 2006, the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
"It is interesting to find the new crater soon after it is formed," said Ingird Daubar Researchers from the University of Arizona, Tucson, USA.
"It reminds you, Mars is an active planet, and we can study the processes that happen today," said Daubar.
Aircraft Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera, High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) managed to capture detailed images of fresh craters on the site that had previously been taken by another aircraft camera studying Mars.
For ages crater, researchers using the same method, including some of the possible outcomes of climate change Mars.
Based on the study of craters and moon rocks Apollo astronauts collected NASA, scientists have calculated there are only three to 10 impacts per year on the red planet.
"Mars now has the most recognizable level crater in the solar system," said HiRISE principal investigator Alfred McEwen.
The research is detailed in the journal Icarus published this month's issue.
